Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to December 1st, 2015. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 86,31,933 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of December 1st showing a decrease of 28.93 percent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,21,45,705 bales.
According to the 7th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here on Thursday, Chairman of PCGA Shehzad Ali Khan briefed about cotton production and said that Out of the total arrivals, 8.631 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 51, 03,092 bales recorded decrease of 39.95 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 35, 28,841 bales while last year Sindh received 36, 47,576 bales merely 3.26 percent less. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 3.26 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.
Textile mills have bought 62, 89,399 bales while exporters bought 3, 52,826 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 66, 42,225 bales. Multan received 1, 15,985 bales 70 percent short than last year, Lodhran 80,450 bales 68,83. percent short, Khanewal 3,53,327 bales 57.12 percent short, Muzaffargarh 2,33,798 bales a decrease of 47.77, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,72,253, a decrease of 35.77 Rajanpur 3,93,790 bales, 24.35 percent decrease, Layyah 2,27,792, 31.16 percent less, Vehari 2,90,887 bales 57.96 percent less, Sahiwal 2,27,720 bales 54.96 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 66,228 bales 59.85 percent less, Okara 21,815 - 56.11 percent less, Qasur 11,376 - 39.33 percent less, Toba Tek Singh 1,22,004 bales, Faisalabad 45,323 bales, Jhang 40,561 Mianwali 2,54,384, Bhakkar 73,591 Sargodha 11,000, Rahimyar Khan 9,51,736 bales 6.75 percent decrease, Bahawalpur 6,46,746, and Bahawalnagar 662,336 bales.
In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,44,410 bales 4.71 percent less than last year,Mirpurkhas (Thar) 2,70,492 bales 30.69 percent less, Sangarh ,12,94,419 bales 8.87 percent decrease, Nawabshah 2,98,032 bales, Naushero Feroze 2,73,991 bales, Jamshoro 1,33,000 bales, Badeen 31,600 bales and Balochistan 56,519 bales. Total 919 ginning factories are operational in the country. Of them 691 in Punjab and 228 in Sindh. Total 19,89,708 bales are lying in unsold stock.
