The prices of perishable kitchen items have registered a further decline during past week as compared to preceding week, revealed a survey conducted by Business Recorder, here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of capsicum in wholesales market has been reduced by Rs 100 per 5 kg from Rs 700 per 5 kg to Rs 600 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 140 per kg.
Onion price reduced by Rs 300 per 85 kg bag from Rs 6,000 per bag to Rs 5,700 per 85 kg bag, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, tomatoes price reduced by Rs 50 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 330 per 5 kg to Rs 280 per 5 kg, which in retail market is available at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 80 per kg. Peas price reduced by Rs 280 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 630 per 5 kg to Rs 350, which in retail market is available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 140 per kg.
However, no change was observed in chicken prices as live chicken in wholesales market is being sold at Rs 5,000 per 40 kg, while in retail market live chicken is being sold at Rs 130 per kg and the chicken meat is being sold at Rs 250 per kg, same as that of preceding week. Green chilli price witnessed a reduction of Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 550 per 5 kg to Rs 450 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 140 per kg during preceding week. Carrot price did not witness any change and is available at Rs 200 per 5 kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 50 per kg. Bringal price also did not register any change in price as in wholesale markets it is being available at Rs 200 per 5 kg while one kilogram of bringal is being available from Rs 50 to Rs 60. No change was noted in the price of spinach which was sold at Rs 25 per kg, kareela price increased by Rs 60 per 5 kg in wholesales from Rs 350 per 5 kg to Rs 430 per 5 kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
Okra price did not witness any change which is being sold at Rs 80 per kg. Cabbage and cauliflower price also did not witness any change as both the vegetables are being sold at Rs 50 per kg. According to survey, Tori price went up by Rs 5 per kg from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 75 per kg, arvi by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 80 per kg, kaddu by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg and maro kaddu also went up by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg. Ginger and garlic prices did not witness any change as in wholesales market both commodities are being sold at Rs 600 per 5 kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 180 per kg.
Potatoes price remained stable in wholesale market as good quality potatoes are being available at Rs 200 per 5 kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 60 per kg and normal quality potatoes at Rs 170 per 5 kg in wholesales market, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 50 per kg. No change was observed in the prices of ghee/cooking oil, basmati rice, course rice, entire range of branded spices, wheat flour, packed milk, tea packs and other non-perishable items. Prices of entire range of pulses also remained unchanged as Mash pulse is being sold at Rs 220 per kg, Masoor at Rs 160 per kg, Gram pulse at Rs 120 per kg and Mong being sold at Rs 155 per kg.
