Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said a separate exit control policy would be chalked out for foreigners residing in Pakistan for one reason or the other. Names of about 5000 people have been removed from the new Exit Control List (ECL) and over 59,000 from the black list, said the interior minister.
People can be put on the ECL for maximum of three years, under the new policy, said the minister, adding that people belonging to the proscribed organisations, accused of drug trafficking, and involved in spying against the country would never be allowed to travel abroad. The minister also launched SMS Raabta service aimed at facilitating people in getting passports and CNIC from one window. People would be kept abreast with the processing of their applications and they would be able to give their feedback as well.
He said thirteen centers would be established in the country, starting from Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. Delivery of passports at homes would be initiated from Islamabad/Rawalpindi next month and would be expanded to the entire country in a span of six months. The minister said that machinery for Machine Readable Passports would soon be dispatched to ninety one missions abroad. The minister further said that 38 employees of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) had been fired over corruption charges. The sacked employees had also been arrested.
