KP government is pursuing a manifesto of bringing good governance and framing rules and policies to strengthen the economical condition of the province and significantly improve the quality of life of general public since its first day of assuming charge of the province. In this context, KP government announced a "power emergency" and directed the Department of Energy and Power to initiate viable hydel, thermal, wind and solar power projects in order to resolve energy crisis.
In addition to this, provincial government has planned to bring certain reforms and restructure Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO). The objective is to make the organisation more dynamic, efficient. This will result in generating more profits for the province, to be reinvested in upcoming energy projects. Services of highly professional experts from corporate sector are being engaged for this very purpose.
Moreover, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Provincial Minister for Energy and Power Atif Khan have reiterated their posture regarding the reform policy in the energy sector that highly skilled professionals from the corporate sector will be engaged in PEDO in order to achieve objectives.
