Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that the government was fully committed for the early and dignified repatriation of Temporary displaced persons (TDPs) adding that the repatriation process of TDPs from Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency would be started from 29th of the current month.
He stated that about 4500 families displaced from Kurram agency and 700 families Of TDPs from Orakzai Agency will return to their homes in this phase of the repatriation process starting from September 29 in the current month. He said that 5000 displaced families of Akhel tribe from Orakzai agency will also be started soon.
He was chairing a high-level meeting to review the repatriation process of TDPs in FATA here at Governor's house in Peshawar on Wednesday. Besides Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amjad Ali Khan, Inspector General Frontier Corps, Major General Muhammad Tayyab Azam, secretary law and order FATA, Shakil Qadir, DG FDMA, Ikramullah and other relevant officials also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the repatriation process of TDPs and discussed the prevailing law and order situation in FATA particularly in Bajaur and Mohmand agency. The meeting was briefed on steps being taken for the early return of the internally displaced persons and their rehabilitation.
It was also informed that every TDP family will get Rs 25,000 relief package including Rs 10,000 as travelling allowance. The government would also provide TDPs financial assistance to undertake reconstruction of their houses and returning and every TDPs family will get Rs 400,000 for fully damaged and Rs 160,000 for partially damaged houses. The progress on development works initiated in the Fata was also reviewed.
The Governor directed the relevant officials to use all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and expeditious resettlement. He said expeditious and dignified repatriation of TDPs of Tribal areas is our top most priority and the Government was well aware of the problems which the displaced people are faced with adding that steps have been taken for their rehabilitation and welfare.
He said that tribal people had paid a heavy price by leaving their homes during the ongoing war against terrorism. He said that tribesmen and our security forces had rendered the great sacrifices to ensure peace and stability in the area and their sacrifices in the war against terrorism are highly valuable and well acknowledged and will always be remembered with appreciation.
