The Karachi Port handled 309,536 tonnes of cargo comprising 261,192 tonnes of import cargo and 48,344 tonnes of export cargo including 6,543 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 261,192 tonnes comprised of 86,510 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28 tonnes of general cargo; 68,319 tonnes of bulk cargo: 43,927 tonnes of coal; 8,056 tonnes of DAP; 12,376 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,960 tonnes of SB meal and 106,335 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,344 tonnes comprised of 42,404 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35 tonnes of general cargo and 905 tonnes of cement and 5,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,543 containers comprising of 4,615 containers import and 1,928 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,540 of 20's and 1,432 of 40's loaded while 3 of 20's and 104 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 591 of 20's and 163 40's loaded containers while 339 of 20's and 336 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Stadt Marburg, Irenes Wisdom, YM Excellence, Al Farahidi, Sino Bridge, Falcon Grace, Ayseaz S, Star Canopus, JS Narmada and Aston Trader-II carrying containers, oil tanker, SB meal and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Hyundai Jakarta, ER Helgoland, Hanjin Scarlet, APL Germany, MT Lahore and Nonna Ulia carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely ER Helgoland, Hanjin Scarlet and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely FPMC Glory carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There was one vessel viz. ACX Crystal carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. SSL Chennai, PAC Aries, Chem Master, Grand Ace-5 and Alam Sayang carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 76,120 tonnes comprising 34,960 tonnes of import cargo and 41,160 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,368 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 34,960 tonnes includes 13,141 tonnes of edible oil; 2,838 tonnes of animal feeds 10,413 tonnes of chemical and 8,568 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,160 tonnes includes 41,160 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV MSC Alghero, CV Northern Endeavour and MV Atlatik Glory with containers and chemical sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two ships namely CV ACX Crystal and CV Maersk Inoshima carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Inoshima, CV MSC Alghero, CV Northern Endeavour, MV Saadel-C, MV Atlatik Glory, MT Success Dalia and MT Bunga Alamanda currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, animal feeds, chemical and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as five ships carrying containers, coal and gas oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were four vessels carrying containers, chemical and edible oil expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday. There are four ships namely CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Dalma, MV Nonna Ulia and MT Oky Roc carrying containers, coal and diesel oil due to arrive on Monday.
