The Provincial Development Working Party Punjab has approved 17 development schemes of various development sectors with an estimated cost of Rs 37.397 billion. The PDWP accorded approval to these schemes in its 48th meeting of the current financial year 2014-15.
Chairman P&D Board Punjab Irfan Elahi presided over the meeting that was also attended by Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, Members of the Planning & Development Board, and other senior representatives of the relevant departments. According to P&D Spokesman, the approved development schemes included: construction of signal free junctions at Qainchi, Ghazi Road and Khaira, Lahore (Revised) at the cost of Rs 6508.271 million, construction of Canal Express Way from Gatt Wala Bridge to Sahian Wala (M-3) Interchange, Faisalabad (length-25.2 kilometers) at the cost of Rs 6738.015 million, provision of sewerage system for UC-117,118, and 120, Lahore at the cost of Rs 6438.067 million, WASA drains rehabilitation (Bird Wood Drain, Central Drain and Cantonment Drain) from Multan Road to Babu Sabu, (removal of bottlenecks) Lahore at the cost of Rs 2721.686 million.
Operationalisation of linear accelerator at Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology, Nishtar Hospital Multan (Revised) at the cost of Rs 325.25 million, provision of residential colony of Ghazi Khan Medical College D G Khan at the cost of Rs 278.063 million, selective lining of irrigation channels in Punjab Phase-III (Revised) at the cost of Rs 2500 million, augmentation of de-silting capability of Irrigation Department, Punjab at the cost of Rs 275 million and Lahore Ring Road Project (Package-4) construction of interchange at Saggian Chowk at the cost of Rs 2186.115 million.
Dualisation of eastern side bye-pass length-14.25 kilometres in District Gujranwala (Revised) at the cost of Rs 915.345 million, dualisation of Gujranwala Sialkot Road (section Gujranwala to Daska) length-21.71 kilometres in District Gujranwala and Sialkot (Revised) at the cost of Rs 2102.814 million, widening / improvement of Kahuta Karot Road via Khalool length-31.17 kilometres, Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs 585.005 million, construction of new Bhoun Bye-pass, length 11 kilometres District Chakwal (Revised) at the cost of Rs 175.718 million and construction of bridge over River Indus Near Miran Pur on Linking N-55 at Arbi Tibba with Rahim Yar Khan at the cost of Rs 2125.257 million.
Dualisation of Sahiwal-Arifwala Road from 2.54 to 44.66 kilometres District Sahiwal-Pakpattan at the cost of Rs 1521.459 million, construction of bridge on River Ravi at Qutab Shahana in District Sahiwal at the cost of Rs 1757.048 million and capacity building of Directorate General Monitoring and Evaluation (DGM&E) for Improved Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Development Project in Punjab (2nd Revision) at the Cost of Rs 244 million also included in the approved schemes.
