District administration, Peshawar to establish a 50-stall Ramazan Sasta Bazaar at Chowk Yadgar while free electricity, water and cleanliness facilities will also be provided to stall holders. The bazaar will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud on first Ramazan while Malik Ikram of the consumers association will be its incharge.
In this connection, a meeting regarding the provision of essential food items at cheap and official prices held here with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Osama Ahmad Warriach in the chair. Those who attended were included Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mumtaz Ahmad, AC (UT), Shahana Shakir, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Mohammad Fawad, Ration Controller Aftab Omar, general secretary consumers' association Malik Ikram, general secretary Hafeez-ur-Rehman Kiyani while presidents and general secretaries of butchers, fresh milk sellers and poultry, grocers associations.
During the meeting the representatives of different essential food items assured the provision of food and drinking items to the people during the month of Ramazan on cheap and officially fixed prices while traders' associations also assured for establishment of stalls in the Ramazan Sasta Bazaar at Chowk Yadgar. The meeting also decided that no leniency will be shown against profiteers during the month and decided that those involved in profiteering will not only face minimum cash penalty of Rs 20,000/- but will also be imprisoned in D.I. Khan prison for a period of one month.
Later, the Additional Deputy Commissioner along with the office bearers of traders' associations visited Chowk Yadgar and reviewed arrangements for Sasta Bazaar. Talking to media, he said that 50 stalls will be established in the Sasta Bazaar and it will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner
on first Ramazan. For provision of cheap essential food items, administration will provide electricity, water and cleanliness facilities to the bazaar. The stalls to be erected in the bazaar will include beaf, mutton, vegetables, fruits, dates, poultry and other essential food items while special counters of the Utility Stores will also be opened. With mutual consultations presidents of the Consumers' Association, Malik Ikram was nominated as incharge of the Ramazan Sasta Bazaar.
Furthermore, 9 different committees comprising of Assistant Commissioner, Peshawar and all Additional Assistant Commissioners were also constituted for arresting profiteering during the holy month which will continuing raids on profiteers on daily basis at morning, afternoon and before Iftar and during Sehri times and daily report will be presented to Deputy Commissioner.
