LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said the youngest IT specialist of world, late Arfa Karim, was a trendsetter and role model for youth of the country.

Talking to media after meeting with Arfa's parents at their residence, she said Arfa had introduced a positive and beautiful image of Pakistan across the world.The Information Minister said she had come to meet Arfa's parents on the directions of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

She said the government fully realised that a platform and forum was required to groom brilliant children of the nation

She said Arfa was the daughter and pride of the entire nation who had given a roadmap to the youth through her revolutionary thoughts and vision.

Appreciating the parents of the late Arfa for forming an "Arfa Karim Foundation" to support intelligent youth of the deprived class, the Minister gave donation of Rs one million on behalf of the government and assured them of complete support for this noble cause.

She also announced that a documentary on Arfa Karim would be broadcast on Pakistan Television and Directorate of Film and Publishing would publish a book to pay homage to world's youngest IT specialist.

She said the Pakistan People's Party believed in women empowerment and brilliant young daughters,like Arfa, would be supported by the government.

Lauding the efforts of late Arfa, she said that her name should be highlighted across the world as she had enhanced respect of the country with her own initiatives.

Amjad Karim Randhawa, father of late Arfa, told the media that he wanted to introduce the cause of her daughter to the whole world and expressed his determination that the family would work for the youth of the nation through the Arfa Karim Foundation.

Earlier, the Federal Minister offered condolences to the family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
