Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Tahirul Qadri has said that by not allocating funds for NACTA the Sharifs have once again proven their loyalty with the terrorists' elements. Talking to members of the Consultative Council from Canada via video link, Dr Qadri said NACTA was entrusted the responsibility to implement the 20 points of the National Action Plan to which all the politicians of the country agreed on.
He said it was astonishing that even after a passage of six months the government had never presented a plan of action for NACTA and neither allocated any funds for it to operate against terrorist. Dr Qadri said scathingly, "The government is more interested in making Metro Bus systems and roads and bridges and remains oblivious of the fact that the country faces a major threat from the terrorists and the Army Chief has time and again reminded the government that our first priority should be to eliminate terrorists from the country. But, the rulers have turned a deaf ear towards this major issue and continues with their plans of collecting commissions from contracts given out for building bridges and roads and metro bus systems."
He went on, "Funds for such useless projects can come overnight but no money is allocated for NACTA to fight terrorism. This is solid proof that the government has mixed up all its priorities and does not want to divert funds to fight terrorism. This shows that the government has a soft corner for terrorists. The Army wants to eliminate terror and create a peaceful atmosphere in the country so that the people of the country can live in peace and that our next generation is also provided a peaceful and just future. Tears that government officials shed at the time of the Peshawar School incident were of an alligator and there was no sincerity in the hollow slogans of the government.
"They are just making a fool of people as well as that of those who are fighting against the terrorists ... The party has been subjected to the worst form of state terrorism and several of our workers have been killed and injured. We will continue in our fight against terrorism and will always stand by its armed forces in times of need ... Even today 70 percent of the agenda of the NAP remains unfulfilled and Madrassah [seminaries] being run by banned organisations have not been registered and neither have they been documented or listed ... No effort has been made to check or block the funds coming from abroad for these organisations and this negligence amounts to treason against the state as this is a matter of our future generations for whom we need to provide safe and healthy environment to flourish and grow.
"The Sharifs have made their loyalists to challenge the 21st amendment and at the same time they also challenged in a court of law the judicial commission formed to investigate the Model Town tragedy. He said dozens of committees were formed to implement the NAP and not a single committee has ever held a meeting to review the progress of the implementation of the NAP. It is painful to note that had the Sharifs' spent only 10 percent of their energies of what they spent on making Metro Bus Service, today the poison of terrorism would have been eliminated from the country."
