Minister calls for same kind of facilities for FATA, PATA as given to other region
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice, Syed Ali Zafar on Monday said that the same kind of amenities to the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) should be given that are available to the people of other region.
While chairing a meeting of the committee constituted by the prime minister for facilitating FATA’s and PATA’s merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) he said that there should not be any discrimination in development, as tribal people are also equal citizens of the country, a press release said.
The committee decided that as a result of the merger all the Federal and Provincial laws had become immediately applicable to the areas of FATA and forth will all fundamental and human rights will be available to the people of FATA.
However, there was a need to assure that the infrastructure, the system of administration of justice, maintenance of peace of good governance in the areas as prevailing in the province of KP was made available for the full benefit to be accrued to the people. For this purpose an interim arrangement had to be made immediately.
The committee also decided that a legal framework needs to be given for the maintenance of peace of good governance in the areas which comprises tribal districts.
