RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Abbas Ahsan Friday said that district police would utilize all available resources to ensure law and order, security and control crime in district particularly during electioneering period.

Addressing a press conference here, he said, no one would be allowed to violate election Code of Conduct and FIRs would be registered against the violators as Returning Officers and Regional Police Officer had directed the authorities concerned to take action in accordance with the law against the violators.

On the occasion, SSP Operation, Rawalpindi, SP Saddar, SP Rawal, SP Potohar and several other police officers were present.

He said, district police would not compromise on its integrity and impartiality and would make efforts for free, fair and transparent elections in the district.

The CPO to a question informed that main role of police during electioneering period would be to maintain law and order, security besides controlling crime while earnest efforts would be made for election duties.

Abbas Ahsan to another query said that on the recommendations of the DIG Rawalpindi, security was provided to an election candidate.

He said, out of total 9000 strength of district police maximum available personnel would be deployed for election duties across the district.

The preliminary list of 305 sensitive Polling Stations had been sent to the authorities concerned which would be finalized by Election Commission of Pakistan, he said adding, appropriate security arrangements would be made for the sensitive polling stations.
