Competitors companies Apple and Samsung have finally come to a settlement on their seven-year-long patent infringement dispute.

Two tech behemoths Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics put an end to their seven years long dispute about patent infringement on Wednesday. Filed at the US District Court for the Northern District of California, Judge Lucy Koh informed about the settlement, but did not disclose the terms, reported Reuters.

For now, Apple spokesperson refused to comment regarding the settlement’s terms and Samsung too did not immediately return a request for comment.

Explained by Engadget, the lawsuit filed in 2011 noted Apple go after rival Samsung for allegedly infringing on Cupertino’s iPhone user interface, basic design and advertising, and also numerous patents including iOS home screen, the Messages interface, iPhone 3G design patents, the ‘bounce back’ effect along with numerous other user interface and app patents. Apple sought for the removal of Samsung’s Galaxy devices and since then, the two firms have been facing off each other in court.

Back in May, a US jury reached to a decision where Samsung was found liable for $539 million in damages. Samsung has also paid $399 million to Apple for compensating the patent infringement, however, as of how much Samsung would have to pay Apple under Wednesday’s settlement has not yet been revealed. It is not even clear why after all these years, the case is finally coming to end now, wrote The Verge.
