LAHORE: Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mir Israrullah Zehri said on Wednesday that Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) would procure 1.3 million ton wheat at the rate of Rs 950 per 40 kg during the coming wheat procurement season.
Talking to APP, he said that 9.3 million hectare area had been brought under wheat cultivation in the country which was less than the last year due to flooding.
He said the provincial governments allocate specific areas for wheat procurement from where the PASSCO procure wheat.
He said that MD PASSCO Shafqat Rasool had been directed to make adequate procurement arrangements.
Zehri said that the PASSCO had also been directed to install toll free phone number for the redressal of people's complaints regarding the procurement.
The Prime Minister has also directed the Food Ministry to instruct the departments concerned for making transparent wheat procurement arrangements, he added.
