Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) Engr Muhammad Adil Usman has said that it is not that only free people ought to be educated, but the educated people are the ones who are in fact free. Freedom is rather a state of mind. Having had education, there is a chance for you to make contribute for a better world.
He was addressing the ceremony held to celebrate Independence Day at the campus. He said that the nations demand freedom and freedom demands responsibility. Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves. It is true that in independent states, people are free to choose their actions, but not the consequences. So they should watch their steps and check out their actions, to avoid misuse of freedom.
Earlier, Chancellor SSUET hoisted the national flag and paid rich tribute to the founding father for their struggle for independence. On this auspicious occasion he underscored the need for translating the Quaid-e-Azam's motto of unity, faith and discipline into reality and work together in raising Pakistan stature. Students of the university were very excited and raised "Pakistan Zindabad" slogans and waved the national flag. Aligarians also joined the dynamic students in marking the annual festivity.
High point of the ceremony was a cultural programme. Students enthralled the audience with national and motivational songs. At the end of the ceremony, Naat khawan Mahmoodul Hassan Ashrafi prayed for the progress, solidarity, stability and prosperity of Islam and Pakistan. On this auspicious occasion Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Jawaid Hassan Rizvi, Registrar Syed Abrar Ali, departments' heads, faculty and staff members and others were present.-PR
