Hong Kong shares end 0.57pc higher

Published Updated

hkHONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended 0.57 percent higher Friday following strong debt auctions in under-pressure Spain and Italy and encouraging words on the eurozone from the European Central Bank.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 109.04 points to 19,204.42 on turnover of HK$53.05 billion ($6.80 billion).

Chinese shares fell 1.34 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 30.43 points at 2,244.58 on turnover of 64.0 billion yuan ($10.1 billion).
