The Karachi Port handled 117,746 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,340 tonnes of import cargo and 29,406 tonnes of export cargo including 3,487 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 88,340 tonnes comprised of 25,458 tonnes of containerised cargo; 612 tonnes of general cargo; 21,215 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,868 tonnes of coal; 5,670 tonnes of soyabean meal; 6,677 tonnes of DAP and 41,055 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,406 tonnes comprised of 16,770 tonnes of containerised cargo 266 tonnes of cement and 12,370 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,487 containers comprising 1,682 containers import and 1,805 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 750 of 20's and 433 40's loaded while 14 of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 502 of 20's and 150 of 40's loaded containers while 245 of 20's and 379 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Captain Costas, PAC Aries, MSC Jenny, Pagasitikos, MT Karachi, Ocean Explorer, KN Forest, Sea Merchant and Akmi carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. APL Sokhna, UASC Khor Fakkan, Oriental Acacia, Yukon Star and Sea Wave carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely UASC Khor Fakkan carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Yukon Star carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were five vessels viz. Violetta, Panagia Lady, Al Yarmouk, Ashahda and Galbot carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz. Bahra and Soldoy carrying mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 59,439 tonnes comprising 41,862 tonnes of import cargo and 17,577 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,014 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 41,862 tonnes includes 5,068 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,510 tonnes of edible oil and 25,284 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 17,577 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There was one ship namely CV JPO Libra and MT Asia Glory with containers sailed out sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Hugo Schulte and CV Venezia with containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV JPO Libra, CV Hugo Schulte, CV Venezia, MV Akami, MT Golden Trader, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Bunga Akasia currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel product, urea, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Maersk Milkag, RBDcanima Core and Atlantic Glory with gas oil, furnace oil and chemical are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were seven vessels with containers, steel product, urea, diesel oil and edible oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FAP Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There is one ship namely Atlantic Glory with chemical due to arrive on Friday.
