The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms has proposed an allocation of Rs 205.7 billion, including Rs 33.66 billion foreign aid for 122 on-going and 25 new projects under Public Sector Development Programmes (PSDP) for 2014-15.
According to documents available with Business Recorder, a total of Rs 81.43 billion has been proposed for 21 hydel projects: Rs 30.44 billion for Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project, Rs 8.93 billion for Tarbela Fourth Extension Hydro Power Project, Rs 15 billion for Construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project (Land Acquisition), Rs 10 billion for Construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project, Rs 4.4 billion for Dasu Hydro Power Project Stage-1, Rs 6.85 billion for Golan Gol Hydro Power Project (Chitral), Rs 3.29 billion for Keyal Khawar Hydro Power Project (KP), Rs 1.26 billion for Refurbishment & Upgradation of Generation Units of Mangla Power Station for 2014-15.
The Planning Commission also proposed Rs 22.9 billion for six on-going and Rs 500 million for three new projects of GENCOs/Generation companies for next year. The on-going projects include 425 MW (CCPP) Power Project Nandipur (Rs 2.1 billion proposed allocation for next year), 525 MW Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant at Chichoki Malian by GENCO (Rs 2 billion), 747 MW (CCP) Guddu Power Plant (Rs 8 billion) etc while new schemes include 750 MW CCPP at Shahdra, Multan & Faisalabad (Rs 300 million), installation of 5 MW Solar Power Plant for Tehsil Moola (Rs 100 million) and 1x660 MW Coal-Fired Plant Lakhra (JICA).
The Commission also proposed a total of Rs 38 billion for 48 on-going schemes and Rs 25.85 billion for 12 new schemes of NTDC for 2014-15. The on-going projects include 220 KV Grid Station and Allied T/Line Dera Ismail Khan (Rs 1.6 billion proposed allocation for 2014-15), 220 Sources of Supply 220KV Islamabad University Substation (Rs 100 million), 500 KV 3rd Circuit Jamshoro-Moro-Rahim Yar Khan Transmission Line & Allied Grid Station and Extension (Sindh) (Rs 3 billion), Interconnection of Chashma Nuclear (Rs 2.66 billion); while new schemes include Power Evacuation from Gaddani to National Grid (Faisalabad) (CPEC) (Rs 10 billion), Power Evacuation from Gaddani to National Grid (Lahore) (CPEC) (Rs 10 billion), Interconnection Scheme for Import of Power from CASA-1000 (Rs 4 billion), etc.
Rupees 37.03 billion, including Rs 31.57 billion for 74 on-going and Rs 5.46 billion for nine new projects of DISCOs have been proposed for 2014-15. The new projects include Power Distribution Enhancement Project (FESCO)(Tranch-III) (Rs 500 million), Power Distribution Enhancement Project (GEPCO) Rs 1000 million, and Power Distribution Enhancement Project (IESCO) (Rs 800 million), etc.
