The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) has issued 10 hours daily loadshedding schedule in the region that would be applicable to all categories of consumers including domestic, commercial, industrial and agriculture sectors. Addressing members of Gepco Advisory Committee on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer, Munir Ahmad Mian, said the Federal government has removed any discrimination between the urban and rural consumers of the region.
Gepco provides electricity to the densely populated golden triangle districts of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad and feeders of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to the government's new projects to augment electricity generation, CEO Munir Mian said that first unit of the 450MW Nandipur Thermal Power house would be fully operational to produce 95MW electricity by the end of this month. He appealed to the consumers to save as much energy as possible so that more energy could be provided to the industrial sector of the region that is backbone of the economy and job provider to the labour force.
