The current situation of power outages in Karachi is likely to improve from May 20, K-Electric (KE) claimed on Wednesday.
In a statement on their social media, the KE announced that the affected part of their Bin Qasim Power Station has arrived from Holland, which is a crucial part of the plant. The rotor, weighing over 41 tonnes, was airlifted from Holland.
KE also said that a team of experts have begun the installment of the spare part at the plant. The installment of the unit is expected to be completed by May 20.
With the arrival of the holy month of Ramazan, the metropolis is also currently facing excessive load-shedding in various parts of the city. Reports of complaints have been coming from areas including Malir, Liaquatabad, Lines Area, Orangi Town, Landhi and Shah Faisal Colony, local media reported.
Meanwhile, parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was hit by a massive power breakdown due to the tripping of Tarbela, Mangla and Ghazi Barotha power plants. However, electricity has been restored in parts of the affected areas.
