FAISALABAD: Minister of State for Finance & Economic Affairs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan on Saturday said the government would soon introduce a new package for the textile sector.

He was addressing exporters at the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PHMA) here.

Minister of State for Commerce & Textile Hajji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Minister of State for Power Ch Abid Sher Ali, MNA Mian Abdul Manan, Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association Mian Naeem Ahmed, Chairman PRIGMIA Ijaz Khokhar, Chairman Fesco Board Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed, Dr Khuram Tariq, Muhammad Amjad Khawaja, Kashif Zia, Waheed Khaliq Ramae and others were also present.

The minister said directions had been issued to quarters concerned for resolving issues of value added textile sector and in this regard, payment orders of refunds of Rs 35 billion would be issued before end of the current month.

He assured the exporters that the government would resolve their all genuine outstanding issues on priority basis.

State Minister for Textile Hajji Muhammad Akram Ansari said the government had made the utmost efforts to provide relief to exporters during its tenure.

He said a modern expo centre spreading per 45 acres land would be constructed in Faisalabad and this would be completed within the next two years.

State Minister for Power Ch Abid Sher said trader community were our brethren and their issued would be redressed on priority basis.

He said when the present government came to power, industry in the country was closed due shortage of electricity and gas but today uninterrupted power was being supplied to industry, adding that now steps were being taken to cut in power tariff.

Earlier, Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association Mian Naeem Ahmed, in his welcome address, said that production cost of value added textile sector had increased due to duty imposed on import of cotton and polyester yarn.

He demanded the government to waiving off the duty already imposed on value added sector and provide all out support for increasing country exports.
