LONDON: Securing the independence of Hungary's central bank remains one of the key issues for any help from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), EU economic and monetary affairs commissioner Olli Rehn said on Monday.
Hungary's recently adopted new law was in breach of EU laws and compromised the independence of the central bank, Rehn told reporters after a meeting of liberal policymakers, hosted by British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in London on Monday.
"Therefore this will be one of the issues which will be a precondition," Rehn said.
