RAJANPUR: A bus carrying a wedding party fell into the Indus river near here early Monday from a temporary bridge between Chachran Sharif and Kot Mithan.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, 31 people out of 42 managed to save their lives as they jumped out of the bus before it fell into the river.
Three bodies were recovered from the site. They were identified as Rabia Bibi, her father Mohammad Akbar and Shado Bibi.
Locals told this scribe that the victims were going to Fatehpur near Layyah to attend a marriage ceremony. Some of them received minor injuries and were sent to DHQ hospital, Rajanpur.
The rescue operation ended at noon in the presence of DCO Rajanpur Ghazi Aman Ullah. The bodies were shifted to DHQ hospital while other passengers were sent back to their homes.
