JHELUM: Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that his government had ended terrorism and power load shedding from the country.

Addressing a public meeting here, he said, "We brought out the people from darkness and put the country on road to progress and prosperity but I was removed from the prime minister office." Were elected representatives treated in that manner, he asked the gathering, and said there was no such example anywhere. The prime minister serving the nation and country sincerely never stayed in power, he claimed.

Nawaz Sharif said the government made Karachi a peaceful city and people were living there in a peaceful atmosphere and also getting jobs now. "We made the country atomic power and ended darkness from the country."

Nawaz praised the crowd and thanked the people of Jhelum for according him a warm welcome today and when he travelled from Islamabad to Lahore. "I love Jhelum and its people," he said.

Nawaz Sharif said that the vote was not given respect during the last 70 years but now he would not let anyone to discredit it.

He said that he was disqualified and removed from the party head on corruption allegation which he never committed.

He said, today's Jhelum public meeting was announcing that people had not accepted the decision of his (Nawaz) disqualification.

Criticizing Imran Khan, he said no one could compete with lions and peoples thumb impressions would decide the winner.

He said that he would not let Imran Khan to come into power from backdoor and termed a liar and a coward. He said the situation was worst in Karachi and Peshawar where big heaps of garbage were seen everywhere.

He said that Imran did not establish any university, school and hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that Imran Khan had termed Lahore Metro Bus as 'Jangla Bus' but now he himself after five years had started work on a similar bus project in Peshawar.

He said that 2018 election would not be an election but it would be a referendum in his party's favour.
