SEHWAN (Jamshoro): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has condemned assassination attempt on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and demanded investigation into the matter.
The Pakistan Peoples party is only political party which always raised voice against terrorism and extremism and rendered great sacrifices while struggling to combat terrorism, the CM replied to a question during media chat outside the Darga of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar where he came to participate in the concluding ceremony of 766th annual urs celebrations on Monday.
He demanded holding thorough investigation into the attack on the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal at Narowal the previous day.
The Chief Minister said the provincial government had adopted strict security measures in Sehwan town in order to avert any untoward incident during three day annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. No untoward incident was reported during the celebrations, he said and added that the provincial government made maximum efforts to facilitate the devotees of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar who came across the country to pay homage to the saint.
Replying to a question, Syed Murad Ali Shah said people of the country remained with PPP and the party has no competition with other in the next general election, he claimed and added that the people fully desired that general election should be held in time.
The Chief Minister informed that the provincial government was making all out efforts to settle the issue of acute shortage of water in Sehwan town on permanent basis. The government has been actively engaged to restore the Manchar Lake not only to facilitate the fishermen of the area but also resolved the issue of shortage of water, he added.
Replying to another query, Syed Murad Ali Shah said Sindh government would present the Annual Budget 2018-2019 on May 10, while the government would get approval from Sindh Assembly to present the supplementary budget of the province.
There is no constitutional hurdle in presenting the annual budget, but the present government would fulfill its moral responsibility of granting approval of utilization of three months allocation of the budget while the remaining budget would be utilized by the government with the approval of provincial assembly after formation of the government, he said.
Replying to another question about increasing accidents on Indus Highway, the Chief Minister termed delay in completion of 130 kilometers dual carriage highway as cause of accidents on Indus Highway. If the provincial government can complete 62 kilometers long Nawabshah-Sanghar road in four months there should be no reason of delay in completion of 130 kilometers dual carriage highway in time, he said.
The Chief Minister said that there was no restriction upon MQM of holding public meeting, there was fear among all factions of MQM after successful public meetings of PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Karachi, he said and added the citizens of Karachi were now free from all kinds of fear and they will exercise their right of franchise in the coming general election according to their own will.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah accompanied by Sindh Ministers Manzoor Hussain Wassan and Fayyaz Ali Butt and Special Assistant Auqaf Syed Ghulam Shah Jeelani laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha at the Mazar of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
