KARACHI: Shipping activity remained brisk at Port Qasim where three ships - Prosper, BW Cobalt and Silver Emily - carrying Containers, Chemicals and Palm oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday.
Meanwhile seven more ships, with containers, Palm oil and Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
A total of ten ships namely Prosper, Safmarine Ngami, CMA CGM Estelle, Islander, Thor Insuvi, Zhen Bang, BW Cobalt, YM Jupiter, Silver Emily and Jo Pinari were occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Coal, Canola seeds, Chemicals, Palm oil, Mogas and Diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. Cargo handling witnessed upward trend at the Port where a cargo volume of 195,596 tonnes comprising 156,964 tonnes import cargo and 39,368 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,187 Containers (TEUs), (2,115 TEUs imports and 2,072 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours. Five ships Prosper, Safmarine Ngami, CMA CGM Estelle YM Jupiter and Thor Insuvi sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total of seven ships, MSC Joanna, MSC Ishyka, Devon Trader, Industrial Dolphin, Da Chang, MI Harmony and Nord Bay carrying Containers, Project Cargo, Coal and Furnace oil were expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, MW-2 and PQEPT and FOTCO respectively on Monday, while two more ships, Maersk Detroit and Xpress Kenchenjunga are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday (May 8, 2018).
