LISBON: Portugal's monthly unemployment rate fell to 7.4 percent in March from a revised reading of 7.6 percent the previous month, which was the lowest in 14 years, data from the National Statistics Institute showed on Monday.
The jobless rate compares to 9.7 percent in March 2017.
The youth unemployment rate of those aged 15 to 24 edged slightly higher to 21.3 percent in March, but fell from 22.9 percent a year earlier.
The total number of unemployed fell to 381,200 people last month from 395,100 in February, while the total workforce stood at over 5.17 million, little changed from the previous month.
