Strengthening democratic system pivotal for bringing prosperity: Afzal

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Saturday said strengthening democratic system in the country was pivotal to bring development and prosperity.

Talking to a private news channel, he said sanctity of vote had become a part of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) manifesto and the government had given respect to the vote by resolving major challenges that the country was facing.

He said, being a responsible political party and respecting mandate of the people, the government had presented the 6th budget to run affairs of the country smoothly.

Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had sacrificed a lot for the supremacy of law and the constitution, he said adding anti-Pakistan forces never wanted political stability in the country.

To a question, he said complaints of horse trading in Senate elections were not a welcoming sign for the Parliament and the system.
