Mohammad Asif slams skipper Sarfraz ahead of England series

Pakistan’s tainted fast bowler Mohammad Asif has slammed Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed, saying that the skipper will not be able to motivate his team owing to his recent unimpressive performances.

Asif was of the opinion that captain Sarfraz had to lead from the front but unfortunately his performance with both bat and behind the wickets have not been much to talk about. “How can he [Sarfraz] then motivate other players if his own performance is below par,” said Asif, quoted Dawn.

Pakistan cricket team is in England these days and is currently conducting training session at St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury for the upcoming Test series with Ireland and England.

The fast bowler, who was part of the infamous trio involved in 2010 spot fixing, including Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir, further criticized the selectors for picking up an inexperienced squad for the upcoming series.

“Several members of the touring side have no experience of Test cricket and yet they have been selected for the all-important tour of UK and Ireland, for reasons best known to the selectors,” said Asif.

Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan from May 11 to May 15 in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to June 5.
