No relief given to people in budget claim opposition lawmakers

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmakers Friday claimed that no major relief was given to the people in the federal budget.

Talking to media persons outside the Parliament, they were of the view that it was the last budget of the government and it should have been a model. Only 10 per cent increase in salary and pension was meager as compare to the price hike, he said.

Sheikh Salahuddin of MQM claimed that no relief was given to the general public in the budget. He said his party out-rightly reject such budget which provides no relief to the salaried class and common man.

He said his party would again present proposal for welfare of the people to incorporate in the budget.

Shazia Marri of PPP claimed the government has no mandate to present budget for next year. She said there was provision in the constitution for presenting budget for four months.
