MULTAN: Agriculture experts have advised farmers to treat the cotton seed with suitable pesticides before sowing, to keep the crop safe for at least a month against attack of sucking pests, particularly white fly, a carrier of Cotton Leaf Curl Virus (CLCuV).
A spokesman said in a statement on Monday that farmers should keep the plant-to-plant distance 12-15 inches for crop sown from Apr 1 to 30, while line-to-line distance should be maintained at 2.5 feet in ridge sowing.
Farmers can also consult agriculture officials via agriculture helpline numbers 0800-15000 and 0800-29000.
