Nawaz Sharif is considering filing a petition in court for live broadcasting of the corruption references case proceedings against his family.

Speaking to the media before appearing at an accountability court on Monday, the deposed prime minister said that he will consult with his legal team whether an application could be submitted in court requesting live broadcast of his hearings.

Both Nawaz and daughter Maryam Nawaz have demanded that the case proceeding regarding the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the Sharifs should be made public so that the public would also know the truth, local media reported.

Sharif added that no one will accept the 'unfair elections' the country is going towards. He said there was news that elections might be delayed. "Why should the elections be delayed?" Nawaz added.

Sharif said that during his tenure, the economy had improved and said that even an ordinary person would be able to answer as to which province had performed best.

Nawaz, Maryam and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar appeared today for the Avenfield reference hearing. Sharif's counsel Khawaja Harris continued cross-examining Wajid Zia, who headed the Joint Investigation Team probing the Sharif family's offshore account and who is a witness in the Avenfield reference.
