JS Bank would consolidate Mission-Critical Card and core banking applications with enhanced availability and reduced costs. JS Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Pakistan's most progressive financial service groups - JS Group, has selected Oracle Exadata Database Machine X3 to provide an integrated platform to run its card and core banking applications, with the objective of supporting rapid growth and enhancing system performance.
Oracle Exadata Database Machine X3 provides the Bank with a robust, scalable and integrated platform to support its mission critical applications, and at the same time, reduce overall operational costs by consolidating on an integrated platform. "A scalable, reliable and highly available platform capable of delivering extreme system performance was our basic need to respond to the growing opportunities and grow our business rapidly," said Imran Soomro, CIO, JS Bank. "We are confident that Oracle Exadata Database Machine is exactly what we needed as it provides an optimal platform for database consolidation enabling us to get maximum value from our IT investments."
"Oracle Exadata Database Machine is uniquely positioned to provide JS Bank with a consolidated platform to deliver the performance required to support their rapid expansion plan and changing business requirements," said Ahsen Javed, Senior Regional Managing Director, Oracle Pakistan and South Asia Growth Economies West. "We are confident that when successfully deployed Oracle Solution will support the bank's mission critical applications, while reducing the overall operational costs."
Oracle Exadata is a pre-engineered hardware and software system and its implementation will enable JS Bank to reduce the complexity of its IT infrastructure. As the system is pre-assembled, installation can be completed in a matter of days rather than weeks. Oracle Exadata Database Machine X3 leverages next-generation technologies to deliver significant improvements, including up to 40 per cent faster response times, up to 30 per cent reduction in power and cooling. It can also significantly improve the system performance by storing up to hundreds of Terabytes of compressed user data in Flash and RAM memory.
In a phased deployment approach, JS Bank already deployed its credit card and corporate banking applications on the Oracle Exadata system. For Phase 2, the Bank will be moving their core banking applications to Oracle Database 11g release 2 which is the database at the heart of Oracle Exadata.
