Exports to UK increases by 10pc

export_400_copyISLAMABAD: Exports from Pakistan to the United Kingdom (UK) during the first five months of current financial year registered an increase of 10 percent.

The export from the country to UK was recorded at US$ 0.56 million during the period from July-November 2011-12, said a statement received here from the Pakistan High Commission London on Friday.

The exports from Pakistan to the UK were highest as compared to the other european countries which were recorded at $ 0.56 million as compared to $ 0.51 million in July-November 2010-11, it added.

Exports to Germany was second highest with $ 0.53 million followed by Italy $ 0.33 million, Spain $ 0.24 million and France $ 0.23 million.

The export from the country to Belgium was recorded at $ 0.21 million and Netherland $ 0.18 million.

Pakistan exports for Russia has reached to $ 0.072 million, Portugal $ 0.68 million and Switzerland $ 0.65 million during the period from July-November 2011-12.

The major increase was seen in apparels like shirts, knitted garments and home textiles including bed linen,it added.

Foreign remittance from the United Kingdom was second highest after USA valuing $ 594.12 million showing a positive growth of 20 percent during the same period.
