SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were down 0.51 percent in morning trade Thursday, tracking falls on Wall Street overnight, despite hopes for a bank reserve ratio cut, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was 10.96 points lower at 2,159.05.
China may cut bank reserve requirements after the New Year holiday, the state-run China Securities Journal said in a commentary on Thursday, without citing sources.
