LAHORE: In a significant step towards strengthening emergency healthcare support and public facilitation, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has initiated the installation of advanced emergency QR panic buttons in government hospitals across Punjab, including Lahore.

The initiative aims to provide citizens with quick, convenient and technology-enabled access to safe city emergency services, particularly during medical emergencies when timely assistance can prove critical.

Under the project, emergency QR panic buttons will be installed in government hospitals across the province in phases. By simply scanning the QR code, citizens will be able to connect directly with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. The relevant hospital’s details will automatically appear on their mobile phones, enabling them to register their contact number and seek assistance through a call to Emergency Helpline 15, live chat or video call.

A key feature of this initiative is its integration with the Safe City Virtual Blood Bank, which will facilitate patients and their attendants in arranging urgently required blood.

Upon receiving a request, the Safe City team will help connect patients in need with available donors of the required blood group, making the process of locating blood donors easier, faster and more accessible.

The QR panic button facility will not be limited to blood-related emergencies. Citizens will also be able to use the system to seek assistance from Safe City in other emergency situations, ensuring convenient access to emergency support through a single digital platform.

According to the PSCA, the installation of QR Emergency Panic Buttons in government hospitals is an important milestone in leveraging modern technology to improve public services and strengthen emergency response mechanisms. The initiative will provide patients and their families with an accessible and effective means of seeking timely assistance during critical situations.

It is further apprised that citizens can also call Emergency Helpline 15 and press option 4 to receive guidance regarding blood requirements and basic first aid assistance.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority remains committed to expanding technology-driven public safety and emergency facilitation services, ensuring that citizens across Punjab can access timely assistance through innovative and integrated digital solutions.
