Govt raises diesel price by Rs2.29 per litre, keeps petrol unchanged

  • New prices are effective for the next three days
Published Updated

The government has increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.29 per litre to Rs402.96 from Rs400.67, while keeping petrol unchanged at Rs377.91 per litre, effective October 31, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Friday, the regulator revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism

The new prices are effective from October 31 to November 2.

OGRA said the change in prices was necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Thursday, the government increased the price of diesel by Re0.85 per litre to Rs400.67, while keeping petrol unchanged at Rs377.91 per litre.

Globally, oil prices rose on Friday and were on track for a fourth monthly gain as traders braced for a potential escalation in the US-Iran conflict after US midterm elections, with an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz highlighting supply risks from the war.

Brent crude futures for December, which expire on Friday, were up $2.74, or 2.4%, at $117.62 a barrel as of 1045 GMT. The more active January contract gained $2.78 to $113.58.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures climbed $2.18, or 2.1%, to $104.18.
