Gold prices nosedive

Published Updated

KARACHI: Gold prices suffered a significant downturn on Saturday, as the world bullion market slid sharply, traders said.

Local gold prices plunged by Rs10,800, going further down to Rs409,736 per tola and Rs9,259 to Rs351,282 per 10 grams, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association said.

The international gold bullion value declined by USD108, reaching USD3,872 per ounce with silver receding by USD1.42 to USD49.10 per ounce, it said.

Domestic silver market fell by Rs142 and Rs122, settling at Rs5,388 per tola and Rs4,619 per 10 grams, respectively, the association added.

Keeping in view the fluctuating world bullion rates, it is important to know that the open market may trade gold and silver at prices differing those set by the association.
