Police camps in Katcha areas are to be named after martyrs: Faryal Talpur
KARACHI: A high-level meeting regarding the development and rehabilitation of the Katcha areas and the resolution of public issues was held at the Sindh Assembly under the chairmanship of Faryal Talpur, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs.
The meeting reviewed in detail the ongoing development projects, socio-economic improvement, provision of basic facilities, and law and order measures in the Katcha areas of Sukkur and Larkana divisions.
Commissioners Sukkur and Larkano gave detailed briefings on development and rehabilitation initiatives in the Katcha areas of their respective divisions. The briefings covered measures and requirements related to education, healthcare, mobile dispensaries, roads, and other basic infrastructure in the Katcha areas.
Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs Faryal Talpur said that the Sindh government would undertake comprehensive measures for the rehabilitation and sustainable development of the Katcha areas. Practical steps were also being taken to address the issues faced by un-surveyed Katcha areas.
Faryal Talpur directed that a comprehensive assessment be conducted of the requirements for education, healthcare, roads, police stations, police posts, and training centres in the Katcha areas, and clear recommendations be formulated in this regard.
She said that police camps to be established in the Katcha areas should be named after police martyrs, so that the sacrifices of police officers and personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty could be paid tribute.
Sindh Minister for Home Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said that sustainable development of the Katcha areas and resolution of public issues were among the priorities of the Sindh government. All relevant institutions would have to ensure coordinated measures to make the development process in the Katcha areas more effective.
Elected members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Sukkur and Larkano presented proposals regarding the issues, requirements, and development priorities of their respective areas.
