PSX partners with UK’s MOBILIST to boost sustainable finance

Published Updated

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has partnered with the United Kingdom’s MOBILIST programme to mobilise private investment for sustainable development and climate transition projects in Pakistan.

Under the partnership, MOBILIST will work with PSX’s network of issuers and market intermediaries to identify products eligible for support, including initial public offerings (IPOs) and new listed products.

The programme provides a combination of equity capital, technical assistance and advisory services to help Pakistani businesses access the capital market and develop sustainable investment products.

Alison Blackburne, Deputy High Commissioner Karachi, said the UK was proud to partner with PSX to mobilise private investment towards businesses addressing climate and development challenges in emerging markets such as Pakistan.

She cited products such as the Parwaaz Green Action Bond as an example of how development finance and public markets could work together to attract private capital.

Farrukh H. Sabzwari, Managing Director and CEO of PSX, said eligible businesses would benefit from equity investment, technical assistance, advisory support and enhanced visibility to facilitate their listing on the exchange.

He said the partnership would help bring more sustainable businesses to the public market and create greater opportunities for them to access capital for projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and net-zero commitments.

MOBILIST is a UK development finance programme that invests in listed products on public markets to mobilise private capital for sustainable development in emerging markets and developing economies.
