It merits a mention here that the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) took place in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on 17-18 October under the theme “Dialogue and Solidarity: Two Essential Pillars for Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development.”
In a statement issued ahead of the session, OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed said that the sensitivity of the current phase and the escalation of tensions regionally and internationally redouble our collective responsibility to work toward strengthening stability, consolidating Islamic solidarity, and adopting resolutions commensurate with the scale of current challenges, in parallel with the need to continue developing the OIC’s operational mechanisms and providing it with the necessary resources to enable it to fulfill its role effectively.
Separately, Dar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation on Sunday.
“The two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments and strongly condemned the Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming their full solidarity with the Kingdom and support for its sovereignty, territorial integrity and security,” said an official statement issued here.
