ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, with the two sides expressing hope that agreements reached through their latest talks would translate into tangible benefits.
Belarusian Energy Minister DzenisMaroz conveyed the commitment during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the two sides reviewed progress made during the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
The JMC reviewed cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, banking, labour, transport and energy, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meeting, the prime minister recalled Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Islamabad in November 2024 and his own visit to Belarus in April 2025, saying the exchanges had helped strengthen ties between the two countries.
He expressed satisfaction with the discussions at the JMC and said he expected their outcomes to further consolidate the growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
Maroz briefed the prime minister on progress made during the commission’s meeting and conveyed the greetings of the Belarusian leadership.
The two sides agreed to maintain coordination to advance cooperation in areas identified by the leadership of the two countries.
