Sri Lankan shares close lower as healthcare drags

Sri Lankan shares ended lower on Friday, as losses in healthcare stocks outweighed gains in IT and financial stocks.

The CSE All-Share index settled down 0.13% at 21,172.74.

Standard Capital PLC and Seylan Developments PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All-Share index, falling 7.1% and 5.3%, respectively.

Trading volume on the index rose to 93.6 million shares from 37.7 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 2.45 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($7.29 million) from 1.08 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 1.18 billion rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 2.34 billion rupees, the data showed.
