PESHAWAR: A total of 52 new buses procured for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system are now ready for shipment to Pakistan.
The initiative is being undertaken on the directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, to expand the BRT fleet and further improve public transport services for the masses.
A spokesman of the BRT said the induction of these buses would increase the total fleet size to 296.
The first batch of 25 buses is expected to arrive in Pakistan in early July, while the remaining buses will be delivered in subsequent shipments.
The new buses will operate on both the BRT Main Corridor and feeder routes, enhancing service capacity, reducing passenger waiting time, and effectively meeting the growing demand for public transportation.
With the addition of the new fleet, TransPeshawar will also launch a dedicated Pink Bus Service for women.
Under this initiative, selected buses will be reserved exclusively for female passengers, providing them with a safer, more comfortable, and convenient travel experience, particularly during peak hours.
According to the spokesperson, TransPeshawarwas also working on the introduction of new routes to further expand access to safe, reliable, and high-quality public transport services across the city.
The addition of these new buses reflects TransPeshawar’s continued commitment to providing modern and efficient public transportation under the guidance of the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Transport and Mass Transit, Samiullah Khan, the Board of Directors, the Secretary of Transport, Muhammad Zubair, and the Managing Director of KPUMA, Iftikhar Khan.
