Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced on Monday the commencement of production from its exploratory well, Bobi Deep-1, located in Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease, District Sanghar, Sindh.

The development was shared via a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Bobi Deep-1 is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), the notice shared.

“For accelerated monetisation of discoveries, OGDCL completed the laying of a 4-inch, 1.5 km flowline from the well site to Bobi Plant within a short span, enabling early production from the discovery,” the listed company informed the bourse.

The OGDCL said that the commencement of production from Bobi Deep-1 will support domestic energy supplies and reduce reliance on imports.

“As operator with 100% working interest in Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease, OGDCL continues to advance hydrocarbon resource monetisation through indigenous capabilities,” it added.

OGDCL is Pakistan’s largest exploration and production (E&P) company. Its operations encompass exploration, drilling services, production, reservoir management, and engineering support.

OGDCL holds the most extensive exploration acreage in Pakistan, covering over 40% of the country’s total awarded acreage with net hydrocarbons of oil and gas.

The Government of Pakistan is the largest shareholder in OGDCL, holding over 67%.
