KARACHI: The South Asia Pakistan Terminal (SAPT) has revised its delivery policy for leftover goods, dropping a requirement that had forced clearing agents to arrange both a container trailer and a small loading vehicle simultaneously to process a single consignment.
According to the details, the Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) raised the issue with terminal management after members flagged the dual-vehicle condition as a source of unnecessary delays and operational bottlenecks at the port.
Following intervention by KCAA, the terminal agreed to accept deliveries through either a container vehicle or a small loading vehicle, depending on the nature and size of the consignment.
The association confirmed that no delivery will be withheld on the grounds of the previous simultaneous-vehicle condition.
The revised arrangement applies to all leftover goods with one exception: tyre and tube consignments remain subject to separate handling conditions and are excluded from the relaxed policy.
The KCAA described it as a step toward reducing trade facilitation hurdles at the terminal.
