ISLAMABAD: The federal capital witnessed an increase in heinous crimes over the past week, with four murder cases, including the killing of three women, registered at various police stations.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder from registered First Information Reports (FIRs), four murder cases were reported at different police stations. In addition, 24 incidents of auto theft were recorded, including the theft of two cars and 22 motorcycles.
During the week, criminal gangs were reported to be more active within the jurisdictions of Shalimar, Shams Colony, Aabpara, and Golra police stations.
Among the most disturbing incidents, a man identified as Bilal Hussain allegedly shot dead his ex-wife, Farhana, and mother-in-law, Nikhat Yaseen, within the limits of Aabpara police station. The victims were residents of Sector G-6/1-4.
In another incident, retired Sub-Inspector (SI) Tariq of Islamabad Police allegedly shot dead his wife following a domestic dispute in the Ghauri Town area. He had reportedly left the police service around a year earlier. During an argument, he allegedly opened fire with a pistol, killing her on the spot before medical assistance could be provided.
Furthermore, Maryam, also known as Mah Noor, a resident of Khanewal who was living in an apartment with her husband, Muzammil, was allegedly murdered by her husband following a domestic dispute in Islamabad’s upscale E-11/2 sector, police sources said. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident, prompting authorities to launch a search operation.
In another incident, an elderly man was found dead inside a locked room in the suburban area of Ali Pur Farash on the outskirts of the city, in what police suspect may be a case of murder.
