ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that a historic saving of Rs5 billion had been achieved in the National Assembly’s budget, owing to the active role and full cooperation of both government and opposition lawmakers, as well as employees of the National Assembly Secretariat.
Wrapping up the general discussion during the National Assembly’s Budget Session 2026-27 on Saturday, the Speaker thanked Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and informed the House about the details of the significant achievement.

He said that achieving the target would not have been possible without the assistance, contribution and support of the members of the House.
Ayaz Sadiq said that members from both the treasury and opposition benches played a positive and vital role in the savings campaign, while the sincere efforts of the National Assembly staff also contributed significantly to its success.
The Speaker appreciated the performance and cooperation of all stakeholders. Members present in the House endorsed the historic achievement by thumping their desks and expressing their appreciation.
