KARACHI: Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui commenced his assignment with visits to the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad.
The visits underscored the deep bonds of spirituality, scholarship, and culture that have long connected the peoples of Pakistan and Iran.
During his visit to Mashhad, Ambassador Siddiqui called on the Imam-e-Jummah of Mashhad, Ayatullah Seyyed Ahmad Alamolhoda and Deputy Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, Mostafa Faizi.
Ambassador Siddiqui expressed his appreciation to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the excellent facilities and services provided to Pakistani Zaireen. The two sides discussed ways and means to further facilitate Pakistani pilgrims visiting Iran.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts and further consolidating the longstanding fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.
Ambassador Siddiqui also visited several important sites within the Holy Shrine and payed for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, as well as for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
