KARACHI: Asim Abrar, CEO of Seagreen Enterprises and Chairman of the Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, has welcomed Pakistan’s seafood exports crossing the historic USD500 million mark.

Speaking on the achievement, Abrar termed it the “highest-ever seafood export figure achieved within 11 months of any fiscal year,” describing it as a landmark success for Pakistan’s seafood and maritime sectors.

He stated that the milestone was achieved through the collective efforts of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs under the leadership of Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, along with the Marine Fisheries Department, the Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority, seafood exporters, and other regulatory institutions.

According to Abrar, the strong coordination between government authorities and the private sector has significantly strengthened Pakistan’s seafood exports and improved the country’s international market presence.

“With one month still remaining in the fiscal year, we remain hopeful that Pakistan will achieve the USD 600 million export mark,” he said.

He further noted that the achievement would encourage new investors and market participants in the seafood sector while contributing positively toward foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, and economic growth.

Abrar concluded by calling the development a proud moment for Pakistan’s seafood industry and praised the combined efforts of exporters, ministries, and regulatory authorities in reaching this historic milestone.
